Today Catania plays away from home the last Sicilian derby of the year against Trapani (currently third) . This is also the last game of the regular season before the finals. In fact from next week Catania will play a mini tournament against all the winners of the other Serie D groups in order to determine the National champion of Serie D.
A win for Catania against Trapani would mean reaching 91 points in the season which will allow to beat the record of highest points ever reached in Serie D (record set by Como at 89 points). Anyway it won't be easy for the Rossazzurri today as Trapani is a strong team and unfortunately no Catania's supporters will be allowed today at Trapani's stadium that will be fully Granata.
Last December, when playing home, Catania won 2-1 against Trapani thanks to Palermo and Rizzo goals (see picture above) while the very last time Catania won in Trapani was in 1999, in serie C2. Let's hope for a win in Trapani after 24 years!
